Ben Jealous, national NAACP President, in a Fayetteville Observer column: "...While the country has allowed individuals to permeate the barriers of discrimination, entire groups of people are still locked out of the American dream because of race.
"Our corporate board rooms are quietly segregated. A report released last week by the Civil Rights Project at the University of California at Los Angeles reveals that blacks and Hispanics are more isolated from white students than at any time since the civil rights movement, and many of the schools they attend are of dismal quality. The report attributed the trends to a “systematic neglect of civil rights policies.”
