STATE NAACP PRESIDENT CITES WEATHER REPORT CAUSE TO POSTPONE
ANNUAL MID-WINTER CONFERENCE
(Durham, NC) Today, State NAACP President, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II announced that the annual Mid-Winter Conference and 26th Annual Humanitarian Banquet will be postponed to a future date due to impending severe weather scheduled to hit our state this weekend.
“We thank the NAACP membership, HK on J Coalition Partners and the general public for making plans to come to this year’s winter meeting. The Planning Committee arrived at this decision concerned for the welfare of our constituents and others for safety. Severe weather offers a challenge for all us to drive and arrive without incident.”
Rev. Barber discussed further the significance of NAACP’s Mid-Winter Conference: “In addition to training, and offering our delegates and partners an opportunity to hear from candidates for state office, we hold our annual HK on J News Conference two weeks in advance for the people’s assembly march and rally, which will be held on Saturday, February 13 in Raleigh. We are looking forward to announcing a new date so that all who had planned to join us can convene at that time, and still recognize our Humanitarian of the Year, Ms. Donice Marie Harbor posthumously, who died at the age of 36, and was an extraordinary public servant and advocate for African-Americans and all people.”
The HK on J News Conference will be held next week. The media advisory will be issued on Monday, February 1. All tickets purchased will be honored on the new date.
