On Developing a Plan of Action for NC's Crime-Ridden Poor Communities

Five core issues haunt poor North Carolina communities like Southeast Rocky Mount. They included weak youth opportunities, lack of employment, crime, inadequate housing and untapped community resources.

That's according to a team of five graduate students from the school of public health at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, who launched a study into the problems plaguing the southeast part of town. They discussed their findings and potential solutions at a forum attended by more than 100 residents of the community.
